SKERRYVORE XX – FLOORS CASTLE

ACCESS POLICY

Skerryvore and Roxburghe Estates warmly welcomes all visitors to Floors Castle & Gardens for SKERRYVORE XX. We recognise that visiting many historic properties and the countryside can present difficulties for people, therefore we are continually improving procedures, and providing extra assistance where possible to ensure that all our visitors can enjoy a comfortable and enjoyable day out.

We hope this guide will provide the information you need to help you enjoy your visit. Further information and advice is available by contacting xx@skerryvore.com or Roxburghe Estates Office enquires@floorscastle.com

Event Site Access and Accessible Area

We want all areas of the XX arena to be as accessible as possible for all users. The access road to the main arena is tarmac with no steep climbs and very good surface. The main arena itself will be a mix of gravel, grass and tarmac. Gravel can obviously be challenging for wheelchairs so we advise making use of the blue badge car park and the entry from there into the ‘accessible area’ of the main arena:

•  It’s accessible by flat, tarmac surface from the blue badge car park

•  It’s close to the disabled toilets, which offer easy wheelchair access

•  Seating will be provided for carers/PA

•  There will be a trackway from there to the edge of the food area which is on grass. Carers will then be able to access the food vendors if the grass terrain is unsuitable

•  There will dedicated stewarding in this area

However if you require any assistance when you arrive, please talk to a member of staff and they will be happy to assist you.

If you wish to make use of the limited number of spaces within the accessible area, then please contact us at xx@skerryvore.com to book your space (for you + PA) and attach a scan of a letter from the DWP or alternative evidence supporting your requirement of the use of the accessible facilities.

If you have any questions regarding your access requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us at xx@skerryvore.com

PA Tickets

If your disability requires you to have a personal assistant (PA), your PA is eligible for a free ticket.  Please contact xx@skerryvore.com if you require a PA ticket. Please note that free PA tickets exclude VIP. VIP tickets can only be purchased at full price.

You will be required to provide proof of your eligibility for a PA ticket both on issue of code and at the main gate, so please bring along evidence of your PIP payments or we will also accept a Credibility/NIMBUS Access Card (http://www.accesscard.org.uk)

Blue Badge Parking

There will be a limited number of blue badge parking spaces available via the PURPLE GATE entrance, POST CODE -TD5 7RN. what3words – https://w3w.co/plans.cabbages.cured

From here you will be directed to the Blue Badge Car Parking, which is in close proximity (less than 500yards / 430 metres / 0.2 of a mile on flat tarmac) to the performance area. PLEASE NOTE – If this distance is impractical / unmanageable we suggest the best option is to make use of the pick-up and drop-off facility which is less than 200 yards from the performance but is on a less even surface.

All Blue Badge Car Parking vehicles will then exit via the PURPLE GATE onto B6397.

Accessible Toilets

There will be fully wheelchair accessible toilets in the main toilet zone and in the VIP toilet zone.  Unfortunately, the VIP toilets are accessed by stairs so not wheelchair accessible, however there will be a wheelchair accessible toilet situated next to the VIP toilets.

If you have a medical condition that requires you to be able to get to a toilet quickly, please talk to a member of the first aid team, who will be situated at the first aid station.  They will be able to ensure you can get quick access to a toilet.

Assistance Dogs

A ‘recognised Assistance Dog’ is one which has been specifically trained to assist a disabled person and which has been qualified by one of the charitable organisations as members of Assistance Dogs UK.

Please let us know in advance if you will be bringing your Assistance Dog to the festival by emailing xx@skerryvore.com

Folding Chairs

Folding chairs are not permitted in the event arena. There are grandstand seats available for those that prefer to sit. For anyone with accessible needs, there will be a dedicated area within the event arena.

Strobe Lighting

Please note some of the music performances may include strobe lighting.
