Band Bio - Barry

Barry followed in his family’s footsteps by taking up the bass guitar at age 14. His first live performance involved playing ‘Angels’ by Robbie Williams with his dad’s band, Miami at the Burnbank social club!! Many performances followed as Barry played in a variety of bands playing all genres from jazz to pop to funk (a particular favourite of Barrys!). He later completed his BA in Applied Music at Strathclyde University, which incidentally was where he met Craig and Alec. This began his introduction to traditional music and inevitably Skerryvore. Some of Barry’s career highlights, before Skerryvore, involved playing in a production of ‘Aladdin’ at the Gaiety Theatre, Ayr, The Byre Theatre’s production of ‘The Honk’ and the Glasgow Jazz Festival at George Square.
